doubts?
Have you ever had your doubts? You know…about Jesus?
Well, believe it or not, you are in surprisingly good company. Read this…
“The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.” Matthew 28:16-20.
“They worshiped, but they doubted.” Hugh?! How could this be?! The DISCIPLES?! These are the big guys! The head honchos....the BIG cheeses…
So now what? If they doubted...is there any hope for me? What’s next? What did they do?
Let’s read...
“Then Jesus approached and said to them, ‘All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
So what are we to do when we have doubts, fears or anxiety of any kind? WORSHIP! Just like they did! Worship in spite of worry, doubt and fear.
Why? Because when we worship…”Jesus approaches” and tells us Who HE is. And when we renew our minds to this truth that Jesus spoke: “ALL POWER in HEAVEN and on EARTH has been given to Me” and we ask for Him to give us the grace to experience this POWER...look out!
God does not dismiss them because of their doubt. On the contrary, He meets them where they are, assures them of Who He is and that all things are possible because of HIM (not them!) And He proves this by giving them a very BIG task to do. One so big, in fact, that He knows that they will never be able to do it on their own. Therefore, He gives them all that they will need to do the job...Himself. They will no longer have to operate out of their own strength, but from the power and ability they receive from the Holy Spirit.
Are you doubting? Worried? Anxious? Then worship! (Try an Adoration Chapel or a Holy Hour or just put on some Praise Music and Sing along!) And ask Christ to be bigger than your doubt, fears or worries and to send to you His Holy Spirit because this He promises:
“And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that You don’t give up on me when I have fear or doubts or worries. If I will worship You, You actually meet me where I am and then give me an “UPGRADE”, by giving me more of Yourself! Come Holy Spirit Come!
I ask this in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
